Part-Time Middle School Math Aide American Heritage School is a mission-driven, faith-centered private school aligned with the teachings and values of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. We are seeking a qualified and dedicated middle school Math aide. The aide will assist teachers with classroom management, grading, teaching, lesson preparation and general teacher and student support.
This position is considered a faith-forming role within American Heritage School. In addition to assisting with academic instruction, aides are expected to actively support, model, and teach principles consistent with the Mission and values of AHS and the teachings of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
A bachelor's degree or equivalent is preferred but not required for this position. Aide should be comfortable teaching middle school math through Algebra One. Successful candidates will demonstrate an enduring love of youth and a genuine passion for teaching and learning, as well as a commitment to actively participate in and contribute to a faith-based educational environment aligned with the teachings and values of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
Candidates should also demonstrate strong communication and classroom management skills, high energy and a warm, consistent presence in the classroom, experience preparing and delivering daily lesson plans, experience establishing and communicating clear learning objectives, and the ability to use a variety of pedagogical methods along with a willingness to continue learning and growing professionally.
In addition to academic responsibilities, aides at AHS are expected to integrate faith-based principles and moral reasoning into classroom instruction where appropriate, serve as an example of Christian character and discipleship to students, support and uphold the spiritual mission of the school through daily interactions with students and colleagues, participate in school-wide devotionals, prayer, and other faith-centered activities, and respond thoughtfully to student questions related to faith, values, and moral decision-making in a manner consistent with the school's mission.
Candidates should be professional in appearance and demeanor and willing and able to serve as ambassadors for the AHS Mission, Honor Code, and Diversity Statement. Personal conduct, public statements, and online presence, both on and off campus, are expected to reflect and support the school's religious mission and educational purpose. Primary responsibilities include assisting teachers with classroom management, grading, teaching, teacher lesson preparation and general teacher and student support, carpool and lunchroom supervision duties and other duties as assigned by the science teachers or administration.
Communication and Organization Candidates should demonstrate strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to create and post assignments with clear instructions, models, and rubrics, maintain purposeful and effective classroom routines, communicate with parents and colleagues in ways that are timely, collaborative, precise, and positive, and monitor and report student progress clearly and consistently. Experience working with students with specific learning disabilities is helpful but not required.
Extracurricular Opportunities Applicants are encouraged to share any interest or experience in supporting AHS extracurricular athletics programs. AHS prefers to fill coaching and activity roles with employees who have both the interest and skills to mentor students in these areas.
