About the role

Support teachers in maintaining a safe and engaging classroom environment for young children through daily routines and play-based learning. Assist with classroom organization and participate in training to earn a Child Development Associate credential.

Description Make a difference while building your career in early childhood education! Community Progress Council is looking for caring, dependable individuals who want to grow into a career working with young children. As a Teacher Aide, you’ll gain hands-on classroom experience while working toward your Child Development Associate (CDA) credential—all while being supported by a strong team and getting paid.

What You’ll Do In this role, you will support teachers in creating a safe, welcoming, and engaging classroom for young children. You’ll: Help with daily classroom routines, activities, and transitions Support children’s learning through play, exploration, and positive interactions Supervise children to ensure their safety at all times Use encouraging, respectful communication with children, families, and team members Assist with setting up materials and maintaining a clean, organized classroom Follow health, safety, and classroom procedures Work closely with a Teacher or Assistant Teacher mentor Participate in training and coursework to earn your CDA credential This isn’t just a job - it’s a career pathway. As a Teacher Aide, you will: Be enrolled in a structured training program Receive support to complete your CDA within approximately 12-16 months Gain real classroom experience while you learn Work with a Self-Sufficiency Coach to support your professional goals We’re seeking individuals who: Enjoy working with young children Are positive, patient, and reliable Want to learn and grow in a supportive environment Can work collaboratively as part of a team Are committed to completing required training and coursework

Requirements

Required: High School diploma or GED Willingness to enroll in and complete CDA credential Ability to follow direction and work as part of a team Background clearances (PA Criminal, Child Abuse, FBI, etc.) Physical exam and TB test Mandated Reporter training within 90 days of hire Preferred: Experience working with children (school, childcare, volunteer, or personal experience) Basic computer skills Why Join CPC?
