JOB FUNCTIONS Evaluations & Assessments: Conduct formal screenings and assessments to determine if a student qualifies for PT as a related service.
IEP Development: Write measurable goals, objectives, and present levels of performance.
Participate in IEP and 504 plan meetings.
Direct & Indirect Therapy: Provide direct one-on-one or group therapy to improve a student's strength, balance, coordination, and mobility.
Provide indirect consultation by adjusting instructional settings or adapting equipment.
Assistive Equipment: Recommend, configure, and maintain adaptive devices, wheelchairs, and standing or seating positioning devices.
Train teachers, paraprofessionals, and parents on how to implement therapeutic strategies, manage equipment, and ensure the physical safety of students.
Track data, maintain therapy records, and prepare progress reports.
Education: A minimum of a Master's degree (or equivalent degree) in Physical Therapy from an accredited program.
Must hold an active, valid state physical therapy license (e.g., Texas Board of Physical Therapy Examiners license).
Requires a Master's or Doctor of Physical Therapy degree, a valid state PT license, and passing the NPTE. Candidates must also pass background clearances and typically possess at least one year of clinical experience in pediatric or neurological rehabilitation.
