Exceptional Children (EC) Teacher Socrates Academy Charter School – Matthews, North Carolina Position Overview Socrates Academy Charter School is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Exceptional Children (EC) Teacher to support students with diverse learning needs. The ideal candidate will provide specialized instruction, case management, and collaborative support services that help students achieve academic, behavioral, and social success in an inclusive school environment.
Responsibilities
Develop and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) in compliance with state and federal regulations. Provide specialized instruction and intervention services for students with disabilities. Collaborate with general education teachers to support inclusion and differentiated instruction. Monitor student progress and maintain accurate documentation and compliance records. Conduct assessments and contribute to eligibility and reevaluation meetings. Communicate regularly with parents, service providers, and school staff. Participate in MTSS, IEP, and related support meetings. Maintain a positive, structured, and supportive learning environment. Support the mission and culture of the charter school community.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Special Education or related field. Valid North Carolina EC teaching license (General Curriculum preferred) or eligibility to obtain licensure. Knowledge of IDEA, IEP compliance, and EC procedures. Strong organizational, communication, and collaboration skills. Experience working with elementary students preferred.
