About the role

The teacher will plan and deliver engaging U.S. History lessons aligned with North Carolina standards to foster critical thinking and civic engagement. Responsibilities include differentiating instruction for diverse learners and maintaining a positive classroom culture through effective communication and data-driven assessment.

Position Summary

We are seeking a passionate and knowledgeable High School U.S. History Teacher to inspire students through engaging instruction, critical thinking, and meaningful exploration of American history. The successful candidate will create a positive learning environment, implement standards-based instruction aligned with the North Carolina Standard Course of Study, and foster academic growth for all learners. Essential Responsibilities Plan and deliver engaging lessons aligned with the North Carolina Standard Course of Study for American History. Develop and implement instructional strategies that promote critical thinking, historical inquiry, and civic engagement. Differentiate instruction to meet the needs of diverse learners, including students with IEPs, 504 Plans, and English Learners. Assess student learning through formative and summative assessments and use data to guide instruction. Maintain accurate records of attendance, grades, and student progress. Establish a positive classroom culture that promotes student achievement, respect, and responsibility. Communicate effectively with students, parents, and colleagues regarding academic and behavioral progress. Participate in professional learning opportunities, faculty meetings, and school events. Collaborate with administrators, counselors, and support staff to ensure student success. Perform other duties as assigned by the Principal.

Qualifications

Required: Bachelor's degree in History, Social Studies Education, or a related field. Valid North Carolina Teaching License in Social Studies (Grades 9–12) or eligibility to obtain licensure. Knowledge of North Carolina curriculum standards and best instructional practices. Strong classroom management and communication skills.

Preferred

  • Master's degree in Education or a related field. Experience teaching high school social studies. Experience integrating technology into instruction. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Strong understanding of U.S. History content and historical analysis. Ability to develop engaging, student-centered lessons. Ability to analyze student data and adjust instruction accordingly. Effective collaboration and relationship-building skills. Commitment to continuous professional growth. Salary and Benefits Salary will be commensurate with education and experience and aligned with the school's salary schedule.

Requirements

Candidates must hold a Bachelor's degree in History or Social Studies Education and a valid North Carolina Teaching License for grades 9-12. A Master's degree and prior experience teaching high school social studies are preferred.
