Requires a Master's degree in Special Education and NYS Students with Disabilities Teaching Certification. Experience working with children with developmental disabilities is preferred.
Overview We are seeking dedicated and compassionate Special Educators to join our growing team on Long Island to provide services across both School-Age and New York State Early Intervention (EI) programs. This role offers opportunities to work with infants and toddlers (birth–3) through EI as well as school-age students in a variety of settings, depending on provider certification, experience, and preference. School-age services may include resource room instruction, home-based Behavioral Intervention Services (BIS), parent training, home instruction, and additional special education supports aligned with student IEPs, while EI services consist of special instruction delivered in home and community settings under IFSP guidelines. The ideal candidate demonstrates a strong understanding of child development, individualized instruction, and evidence-based practices, and values collaboration with families, educators, and multidisciplinary teams to support meaningful progress across natural environments.
Build warm, trusting relationships with children, families, and caregivers. Deliver individualized special education services aligned with IEPs (school-age) and IFSPs (EI). Implement developmentally appropriate, play-based and routine-based instructional strategies. Support communication, social skills, independence, and engagement across home, school, and community settings. Model strategies and coach caregivers to embed learning opportunities into daily routines. Complete accurate, timely session notes and maintain compliance with all documentation requirements. Collect data, monitor progress, and adjust instructional strategies based on student growth. Collaborate with families, service coordinators, school staff, and multidisciplinary team members. Prepare progress reports and participate in reviews, meetings, and ongoing service planning. Qualifications (Required) Master’s degree in Special Education NYS Students with Disabilities Teaching Certification (Birth–2nd Grade required for EI; additional certifications welcomed for school-age placements) Experience working with children with developmental disabilities preferred
