Job description

  • The Office of the Provost is currently hiring a Recruiter/ Talent Acquisition specialist to join the department.
  • The provost, the university’s Chief Academic Officer, is responsible for leading the team that develops and implements the University's academic vision.
  • The provost provides general oversight of academic affairs, including education, faculty, and student life.
  • The provost has primary responsibility for all aspects of the University of Pittsburgh’s academic mission.
  • The Office of the Provost is comprised of a variety of departments, including Undergraduate Studies, Graduate Studies, the Center for Excellence in Digital Education (EDGE), Student Success—and more.
  • Supporting the Business & Operations team, the Recruiter/ Talent Acquisition Specialist will be involved in all aspects of the recruitment process from start to finish.
  • This includes working closely with hiring leadership to assess priorities and talent acquisition needs, developing recruitment plans, reviewing applications, conducting candidate interviews, and creating structured competency-based interview plans.
  • A bachelor's degree and 2-3 years of relevant professional experience is required.
  • Candidates with experience recruiting for higher education, nonprofits, and/or marketing/communications positions desirable.
  • Knowledge of the legal and compliance issues related to the hiring process is essential.
  • This is a position that requires strong customer service skills, strong communication and interpersonal skills, attention to detail—and a good sense of humor.
  • The department is interested in candidates who are resourceful, solutions-oriented, and driven to provide great experiences both for candidates and hiring managers.
  • The department is also especially interested in candidates who are moved by the mission of higher education and eager to support it.
