The teacher is responsible for planning and delivering age-appropriate physical education instruction that promotes fitness, motor skills, and lifelong wellness. Additionally, the role involves spiritual discipleship, facility management, and collaborating with staff to support student growth and school-wide wellness events.
Candidates must hold a bachelor's degree in physical education or a related field and possess a state or ACSI teacher certification. A strong personal relationship with Jesus and alignment with the school's Statement of Faith are required spiritual qualifications.
The purpose of the Elementary Physical Education Teacher is to prepare students for meaningful lives by contributing to their spiritual, social, emotional, and physical development through engaging physical education instruction. The PE teacher fosters a love for movement, healthy living, teamwork, and perseverance while creating an environment where students develop physical skills, confidence, self-discipline, and Christ-like character.
The Elementary Physical Education Teacher is expected to serve the school community through the following core responsibilities:
· Plan and deliver engaging, age-appropriate physical education instruction aligned with school curriculum goals and state standards, emphasizing physical fitness, motor skill development, teamwork, sportsmanship, and lifelong wellness.
· Establish and adjust lesson plans and objectives by following curriculum guidelines and assessing student progress, interests, and developmental needs. · Teach fundamental movement skills, fitness concepts, games, cooperative activities, and sports to promote participation, confidence, and enjoyment for all students.
· Serve as a positive Christian role model by demonstrating integrity, humility, encouragement, and servant leadership. · Contribute to the spiritual growth of students and the school community through personal example, Biblical integration, prayer, worship, and discipleship opportunities.
· Maintain a safe and orderly gymnasium, playground, or outdoor instructional environment by establishing clear expectations and consistently enforcing safety procedures. · Instruct students in the proper use, care, and storage of physical education equipment and facilities.
· Assess student learning and physical skill development through observation, performance-based assessments, fitness activities, and other age-appropriate evaluation methods. · Provide students with encouragement, feedback, coaching, and guidance to promote growth in physical skills, character, and personal responsibility.
· Maintain student records, attendance, and assessment data as required by school policies. · Communicate effectively with parents regarding student progress, achievements, concerns, and opportunities for growth.
· Collaborate with classroom teachers and school staff to support student learning and promote student wellness. · Coordinate and support school-wide events and activities that promote physical fitness and community, including field days, special events, athletic activities, and wellness initiatives.
· Contribute to the school’s effectiveness by identifying short- and long-term needs, providing input regarding curriculum and programming, implementing school initiatives, and supporting the mission, vision, and team effort of CCA. · Maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending workshops, participating in professional learning communities, and pursuing continued growth.

Education & Experience Requirements · Bachelor’s degree in physical education, Education, Exercise Science, Kinesiology, or a related field from an accredited institution. · State and/or Association of Christian Schools International (ACSI) teacher certification (Current or In-progress). · Knowledge of elementary physical education curriculum, motor skill development, child development, and age-appropriate physical activities/instructional practices. · Teaching experience in elementary physical education preferred. · Experience organizing field days, fitness initiatives, or extracurricular athletic activities preferred.
Physical Requirements · Ability to sit, stand, walk, and use office equipment for extended periods. · Ability to occasionally lift and move materials up to 25 pounds.
