The Assistant Coach supports the Head Coach in planning practices, leading player development, and managing game-day adjustments. They are also responsible for recruiting prospective student-athletes and supporting their academic and personal growth.
An associate's degree or equivalent experience is required, along with successful coaching and recruiting experience. Candidates must hold or be able to obtain CPR/AED certification and possess a clean driving record.
Associate’s degree required or equivalent combination of training and coaching experience Successful coaching and recruiting experience are required; at the collegiate level is preferred Current CPR/AED certification, or ability to attain Clean driving record required Responsibilities: Assist the Head Coach in planning and leading team practices, workouts, and player development sessions. Teach basketball fundamentals, team systems, and offensive/defensive strategies. Support game preparation through scouting, film breakdown, and opponent analysis. Assist with game-day coaching, bench management, and in-game adjustments. Promote strength, conditioning, and injury prevention for student-athletes. Help identify, evaluate, and recruit prospective student-athletes who fit KVCC’s culture. Build and maintain recruiting relationships with coaches across Maine and New England. Support student-athlete academic success, retention, personal growth, and connection to campus resources. Assist with program operations including travel, equipment, scheduling, and events/camps Maintain compliance with institutional and athletic policies while fostering a professional, inclusive, and respectful team culture.
