Provide academic support and behavior management for students in a structured therapeutic day school setting. Assist teachers in addressing the emotional and academic needs of students as outlined in their Individual Education Plans (IEP).
Requires a High School Diploma or GED, with an Associate degree preferred. Candidates must have professional experience working with children facing emotional or behavioral challenges.
The instructional assistant provides academic support and behavior management in a highly structured therapeutic day school. In a small class setting, the instructional assistant will support the teacher in addressing the academic and emotional/Behavioral needs of the students as set forth in their individual education plan (Iep). The instructional assistant demonstrates an understanding and commitment to the mission of the organization and its goals and adhere to the policies and regulations of the agency. The instructional assistant is a vital classroom community member who assists in all aspects of student’s school day.
The mill pond schools, with locations in springfield and the berkshires, serve students—kindergarten through age 22—who have social-Emotional and/Or behavioral challenges, a learning disability, or who may have a diagnosis of high-Functioning autism. Our goal is to assist students in developing the skills necessary to successfully return to a less-Restrictive environment, and, ultimately, to their previous school setting.
