Job description

Description At Merritt Academy, we believe childhood is a time of wonder, discovery, and joyful learning. Our Kindergarten program nurtures the whole child through engaging academics, meaningful relationships, and character development in a warm, supportive school community.

We are seeking an enthusiastic, caring, and dedicated Kindergarten Teacher who is passionate about helping young learners develop confidence, independence, and a lifelong love of learning. The ideal candidate creates an engaging classroom environment where children feel valued, challenged, and inspired to reach their full potential. The Kindergarten Teacher is responsible for delivering a developmentally appropriate curriculum that supports students' academic, social-emotional, and character growth. This educator creates a positive classroom culture, fosters meaningful connections with students and families, and collaborates with colleagues to provide an exceptional learning experience for every child.

Plan and implement engaging, hands-on lessons aligned with Kindergarten learning objectives Differentiate instruction to meet the diverse needs of young learners Assess student progress and maintain accurate records of academic and developmental growth Support students' social-emotional development and encourage positive peer relationships Build strong relationships with families through open, positive communication Provide regular updates regarding student progress and classroom activities Participate in parent conferences and collaborate with families to support student success Collaborate with instructional assistants and support staff to meet student needs Participate in faculty meetings, professional development, school events, and family programs

Requirements

In order to be considered for this position, you must meet the following requirements, including: Bachelor's degree in Education or a related field Teaching experience in early childhood or elementary education preferred Strong understanding of child development and developmentally appropriate practices Excellent communication and interpersonal skills Ability to build positive relationships with students, families, and colleagues Commitment to fostering a caring, inclusive, and engaging learning environment Ability to successfully complete all required pre-employment screenings We also seek candidates who exhibit professionalism, pride in work, initiative, a strong work ethic and who support parents as partners in education.
