The Academic Success Coach provides academic support, intervention in core subjects, and advising for students at Early College High School. They are responsible for monitoring student grades, communicating with instructors, and developing plans to address student deficiencies.
Candidates should have some college experience or be pursuing an education degree for grades 9-12. Required qualifications include exceptional communication skills, the ability to manage a high school classroom, and knowledge of state graduation requirements.
Reporting to the principal of Early College High School (ECHS), the academic success coach is responsible for, but not limited to: adhering to all Lorain County Community College (LCCC) policies and procedures; developing an individualized work plan annually, in consultation with the ECHS principal; participating in the assessment of student academic achievement; participating in discipline-related activities and organizations; and supporting the LCCC/ECHS mission, vision and values. The incumbent will: be responsible for all aspects of academic support to which assigned; report to the principal of ECHS and student deficiencies and devise a plan to help the student; advise students in curricular and discipline-related matters when appropriate; support student achievement by reviewing course syllabi reviewing student grades, communicating with instructors, students and counselors; and be responsible for specific core-subject intervention. This is a ten-month position approximately twenty-five (25) hours per week.
