Job description

The Classroom Assistant works collaboratively with the CLC Teachers and Administrators, assisting with the daily operations of the classroom and/or center. The Classroom Assistant will assist with supervision to ensure the safety and well-being of the children at all times and, when necessary, to alert the teacher of possible problems and needs of individual students or the group.

Typical tasks include but are not limited to the following

  • Assists with classroom set up and implementation of the daily schedule.

  • Assists assigned teacher(s) with implementing daily lesson plans and classroom schedules by direct teaching, working with small groups, or individual interaction and temporarily assume teacher responsibilities if needed.

  • Helps maintain a positive environment by interacting with the children and staff.

  • Assists with keeping classrooms, storage areas, outdoor areas, and the center clean, neat, and orderly.

  • Attends to health, nutrition, and personal hygiene needs of the children.

  • Assists with inventory of supplies and materials and reports needs to the appropriate individual.

  • Creates classroom materials needed to implement daily lesson plans and themes.

  • Completes other duties as assigned.

The selected candidate should be comfortable working with children ages 18 months - 12 years.
