Job description

Description At Sheryl K. Johnson Child Care Center, we believe that early childhood is the foundation for lifelong learning. We are seeking a dedicated and passionate Early Childhood Teacher to join our team and help children grow into confident, curious, and capable learners.

Position Overview

The Early Childhood Teacher will create a safe, nurturing, and engaging learning environment where children can thrive socially, emotionally, physically, and cognitively. This role requires creativity, patience, and a commitment to building meaningful relationships with both children and families.

  • Key Responsibilities Ensure the safety and well-being of all children in the classroom, playground, and common areas.
  • Develop and implement age-appropriate lesson plans that support social-emotional, literacy, cognitive, and physical development.
  • Maintain accurate records of each child’s developmental progress through observation and documentation.
  • Create a clean, organized, and welcoming classroom environment that encourages exploration and learning.
  • Engage with children daily through circle time, small groups, free play, meals, and outdoor activities.
  • Communicate effectively with parents and families about their child’s daily experiences and developmental milestones.
  • Collaborate with teaching staff to foster a positive, team-oriented environment.
  • Demonstrate regular, predictable, and reliable attendance to ensure consistency and stability for the children and the classroom environment.
  • Serve as a positive role model for children through professional conduct, language, and actions.

Requirements

Qualifications

Preferred: Degree in Early Childhood Education or a related field (or actively working toward one).

Preferred

Experience working with infants, toddlers, or preschoolers in a childcare or educational setting. A nurturing, patient, and enthusiastic personality with a passion for teaching young children. Ability to meet physical demands of the position, including lifting up to 40 pounds and engaging actively with children. Willingness to complete or provide proof of the following (all paid for by the center if not current): · CPR/First Aid Certification · Mandatory Reporter Training · Universal Precautions Training · State-required background checks, physical, and TB test
