The TK Specialist serves as a mentor and role model for children in TK through 1st grade, fostering a safe and positive environment. Key duties include implementing educational activities, providing homework help, and ensuring the safety and supervision of all members.
Candidates must have a high school diploma or GED and either a degree in Childhood Education, 48 ECE credits, or a passing NCLB test score. Additional requirements include being 18+ years old, possessing a valid ID, and passing background, drug, and TB screenings.
TK Specialist work with members in grades TK-Kindergarten and sometimes 1st grade at the Boys & Girls Clubs Hansberger Clubhouse. Our TK Youth Leaders make a positive impact in a child’s life every single day. TK Specialist are role models and mentors. Together with their team, they work to foster the 5 key elements of Boys & Girls Clubs: A Safe, Positive Environment, A Sense of Belonging, Fun, Opportunities and Expectations, and Recognition. (This is a contracted position partnering with Redlands Unified School District staff to work on the school calendar schedule.)
KEY ROLES (Essential Job Responsibilities): Prepare Youth for Success
1. Create an environment that facilitates the achievement of Youth Development
2. Effectively implement and administer services and activities for students. 3. Ensure the safety of students is considered when implementing programs and activities. 4. Ensure program space/area is organized and cleaned during and after use.
Supervision of Youth
5. Provide guidance, affirm positive behavior and act as a role model and mentor to youth. 6. Provide a safe environment through active supervision, setting clear expectations and maintaining clean program areas. 7. Never leave members unsupervised and implement and follow School behavioral guidelines.
1. May participate in special programs and/or events.
Maintains close, daily contact with Club staff (professional and volunteer), Club members, and supervisor to receive/provide information, discuss issues, explain guidelines/instructions; instruct; and advise/counsel.
Maintains contact with external community groups, schools, members' parents and others to assist in resolving problems.
