  • Category: EducationCome work in a group of Northern Nevada child care centers that support not only the children in our care but our staff, whether they are seeking a career with us or elsewhere. As a behavior support and training specialist, you’ll be part of a team supporting development and education of children aged 6 weeks to five years. You will have the opportunity to focus on the positive and on the child by: providing daily feedback on Conscious Discipline to classroom teachers, supporting teachers with responding to behaviors including biting and toilet training, and observing and screening students regularly, keeping all behavior tracking and documentation current. While there is some data tracking and entry, we wish to be clear that this is not a desk position, and does spend a majority of their time in the classroom.
  • We will need some qualifications from you, including: A college degree in child development or a related field from an accredited college or university OR dual-CDAs OR an equivalent combination of education and experience, two years of experience working with children, ideally at-risk children or children of trauma, and approval as a trainer with The Nevada Registry, or ability and willingness to become an approved trainer within 90 days.
  • In exchange, our centers offer extensive benefits: We offer all full time employees 100% employer-paid medical, vision, and dental plans. All full time employees also receive complimentary Short Term Disability, Long Term Disability, and Life Insurance coverage. When we say we nurture great connections and build great futures, we don’t just mean for the students; as a member of our ELC team, you’ll strengthen your future as well through annual tuition reimbursement, the TEACH program, assistance with getting a CDA, and a 7% pension plan. Salary starts at $45,000/year. These are some of the additional things you will do as a behavior specialist with our early learning centers: Spend 80% of your time directly interacting with children or teachers in the classroom. Develop behavior plans for children with high risk needs. Lead small group activities and lessons with children on behavior and social-emotional needs. Create specialized centers and tools, as needed. Make and follow-up on referrals, as needed. Maintain the safety of our children and staff, and ensure an optimal experience for all. This is what your day could look like as a specialist with our early learning centers: This role is a full time role, and while it is salaried, it requires you to be on-site from 8am to 5pm and in the classroom working with teachers or students the majority of your time. Our students range from 6 weeks to 5 years and are generally grouped into six age-based classes; behavior specialists are expected, however, to be able to work independently and as a team with all age groups. QualificationsWe have great leaders that can teach you skills on the job, but there are some actions and goals that will make you more successful as a specialist with us. You have two years or more of experience working with children in a professional setting, with some of that experience in an early childhood setting. You have dual CDA-s, or an Associate's or Bachelor's Degree in Child Development, Early Childhood Education, or related field. You know that child care settings have more to do than educate, so you greet each child by name and take an interest in their families and lives. You want to do more than just work; you want a role that gives back and supports the community. You believe that uniqueness should be celebrated and support including all persons, regardless of background or beliefs. You respect your team and communicate when you are experiencing difficulty meeting responsibilities. Experience with MS Word and Brightwheel are also preferred. As part of our commitment to child and member safety, there are some additional steps that all hires will be asked to complete. You will need to provide 3 references. These references should be professional references, but references from non-family members over the age of 18 who can speak to your character and professionalism can be substituted in the absence of work experience. You will also be asked to complete a drug screen (which does not include THC), background check, and fingerprint check. We have a commitment to being great. At our Reno/Sparks Early Learning Centers, you’ll have the opportunity to lead a great life, inspired by

    Market context

Nevada toddler behavior support roles stay selective

In Nevada, toddler and preschool behavior support roles are typically driven by demand for staff who can support early childhood classrooms and family-facing behavior guidance. These positions are competitive because employers often look for a child development degree, dual-CDAs or equivalent experience, plus approval with The Nevada Registry or a plan to obtain it quickly. Review the AI-summarized requirements and benefits here to save time, then confirm your registry status and prepare examples of hands-on child support work before applying.
