Summary: The School of International Service (SIS) is seeking a detail-oriented and motivated Federal Work Study (FWS) student to support the Online and Executive Programs office. The SIS Online and Executive Programs office manages two graduate programs: the online Master of Arts in International Relations (MAIR) and the hybrid Executive Master of International Service (MIS). The Program Assistant will contribute to administrative and operational efforts, with a focus on data entry, file management, document drafting, communications, and event logistics support. This primarily remote role provides valuable experience in higher education administration, professional communication and project management skills, with flexible hours that work with your academic schedule. Essential Functions: Organize and maintain program files and digital records. Update course scheduling and faculty databases. Write initial drafts of faculty documents including teaching confirmations and appointment memos. Support immersion and event planning including event logistics and material preparation and distribution. Monitor email inbox and triage communications. Complete administrative tasks and special projects, as assigned. Assist with day-to-day office duties. Position Type/Expected Hours of Work: Part-time. 7 hours per week.
$18.40 - $19.50 per hour. Required Education and Experience: A High School diploma or its equivalent is required. Must be an enrolled AU student. A Federal Work Study (FWS) award is required for the academic year. Strong writing and communication skills. Initiative, good judgement, and attention to detail. Ability to handle sensitive information with discretion and professionalism. Reliable availability during business hours. Preferred Education and Experience: Major, minor, or interest in international studies/international affairs. Previous office or administrative experience. Demonstrated ability to write clear, engaging, and professional messages for diverse audiences (e.g., faculty, staff, students), with an emphasis on succinctness and readability. Experience with event planning, program support, or stakeholder communications. Proficiency with Microsoft Office 365 and Google Workspace. Availability for both fall and spring semesters.
