The assistant is responsible for planning and executing quality programs to improve the academic, social, and physical well-being of youth. They must ensure participant safety by following childcare licensing guidelines and providing direct supervision.
Candidates must be at least 16 years old with a high school diploma and 6 months of experience in youth behavior management. Required certifications include CPR/First Aid/AED, a Food Handlers Permit, and the ability to pass a background check.
Overview Under the guidance of the Site Coordinator, the After-School Program Assistant is responsible for planning, leading, and executing a wide variety of quality programs and activities for youth in the afterschool setting that are aimed at raising their academic, social, emotional, and physical well-being. Along with other program leaders, this group of employees performs and interacts with the youth in every aspect of their afterschool experience. Ensure the safety of participants within the after-school child program by following all childcare licensing guidelines. Promote the after-school cultures of belonging, relationship, and achievement. Develop and deliver fun, engaging lessons to youth within the after-school childcare program setting. Work under the direction of the Site Coordinator. Work as an in-ratio staff at assigned site(s) and/or different programs in our county. Maintain a stable, safe and well-disciplined childcare environment with set expectations for both youth and staff. Provide direct supervision of all youth and ensure a child is never left alone. Prepare lesson plans using approved curriculum and support overall program design. Communicate with Site Coordinator regarding all successes and challenges, on a continuous basis. *This is not an exhaustive list of job duties. 16 years of age or older. High school graduate or equivalent. 6 months experience with behavior management of youth in larger groups. Current Department of Childcare Licensing approved CPR/First Aid and AED (must include infant/child certification); Food Handlers Permit; Child Abuse Prevention Training (earned within 30 days of employment). Ability to pass Department of Childcare Licensing fingerprinting and background check within 10 days of employment. Experience with diverse populations. Ability to speak another language in addition to English is preferred but not required.
