Position Summary

The Substitute Teacher is responsible for providing classroom instruction and maintaining a positive, safe, and productive learning environment in the absence of the regular classroom teacher. The Substitute Teacher follows lesson plans provided by the classroom teacher, supports student learning, manages classroom activities, and ensures continuity of instruction while adhering to school policies and expectations. Duties and Responsibilities

Follow and implement lesson plans and instructional activities provided by the classroom teacher. Provide meaningful instruction and support student learning in accordance with classroom expectations and school curriculum. Maintain a safe, respectful, and inclusive classroom environment. Manage classroom behavior using effective classroom management strategies and school guidelines. Take attendance and maintain accurate student records as required. Assist students with assignments, activities, and classroom routines. Adapt instruction and provide support based on student needs and classroom circumstances. Communicate any classroom concerns, incidents, or important information to the appropriate administrator or classroom teacher. Maintain confidentiality of student information and records. Follow all school policies, procedures, and safety guidelines. Supervise students during assigned duties, including transitions, lunch, recess, arrival, dismissal, and school activities when applicable. Leave appropriate notes for the classroom teacher regarding completed lessons, student progress, and classroom events. Maintain professionalism and positive relationships with students and staff. Perform other duties as assigned by the Principal or designated administrator. Qualifications Required High school diploma or equivalent. Ability to effectively communicate and work with students, staff, and administrators. Ability to follow lesson plans and classroom procedures. Strong organizational skills and classroom management abilities. Commitment to creating a positive and supportive learning environment. Preferred Associate’s or Bachelor's degree in Education or a related field. Valid teaching certification or substitute teaching certification. Previous experience working with children or in an educational setting. Experience supporting diverse student populations. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Ability to manage classroom activities and maintain student engagement. Strong interpersonal and communication skills. Ability to adapt quickly to changing classroom environments. Dependable, flexible, and professional approach to assigned responsibilities. Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise good judgment. Working Conditions Work is performed in a classroom and school environment. Requires active supervision of students throughout the school day. May require standing, walking, bending, and assisting with classroom activities. Schedule and assignments may vary based on school needs. Reports To Principal, Assistant Principal, or Designee Employment Status Substitute / Per Diem Evaluation Performance will be evaluated based on classroom effectiveness, professionalism, reliability, and adherence to school policies.
