Position Overview Wellan Montessori School is accepting applications for a School Nurse position to begin in July.
The School Nurse is responsible for developing, implementing, coordinating, and documenting school health care systems and protocols in compliance with Massachusetts laws and regulations.
The School Nurse works closely with the administrative team and serves as a resource to the school community.
Responsibilities when working with students include conducting health screenings; dispensing medication; administering routine medical and emergency care; and communicating with parents, teachers, and administrators.
Administrative duties include maintaining records; documenting student immunizations, allergies, and medications; developing individualized care plans for students with specific health needs; working with school administrators to develop health and safety policies, procedures, and professional development training for school employees.
The successful candidate will meet all minimum job requirements below; possess strong verbal, listening, and written communication skills; be highly organized, thorough, and detail-oriented; have an understanding of child development, ages 15 months to 14 years; and be able to demonstrate sound clinical judgment, sensitivity, and respect for all persons.
Job Requirements Bachelor's degree in nursing, Master's degree preferred Licensed Registered Nurse in the State of Massachusetts Massachusetts DESE Certification as a School Nurse or be able to obtain it Current certification in CPR, AED, First Aid Minimum of three years of full-time nursing experience with a concentration in pediatrics, school nursing, camp nursing, or community nursing Letter of interest/cover letter, resume, and at least two references required to be considered for this position.
