Cornerstone Christian Schools is looking for a dedicated and reliable Extended Care Attendant to join our team. The Extended Care Attendant will supervise children in our before and after-school program, ensuring they have a positive and enriching experience while under our care. Job Summary

The Extended Care Attendant is responsible for providing a safe, welcoming, and engaging environment for children during the before and after-school program. This role involves supervising children, facilitating activities, ensuring safety, and supporting the smooth operations of the extended care program. The Extended Care Attendant works closely with staff, parents, and students to ensure a positive experience for all involved.

Key Responsibilities

Welcome, supervise, and engage children during both morning and afternoon sessions of the extended care program.

Ensure the safe transportation of children to designated areas, including the gym and playground, during the before and after-school hours.

Plan and lead developmentally appropriate and fun activities for children that encourage creativity, physical activity, and social interaction.

Assist with bus monitoring for before and after-school bus routes, ensuring students safely board and are accounted for.

Assist in organizing and managing the lost and found items, ensuring that belongings are returned to their rightful owners.

Oversee the cafeteria during after-school hours to ensure smooth operation and student safety.

Support and assist other departments as needed, maintaining a positive working relationship with staff, teachers, and leadership.

Help maintain a clean and organized office, workroom, and common areas used by children, including tidying up after activities and meals.

Perform other duties as required to support the ministry’s overall mission.

Education and Experience

High school diploma or equivalent.

For employees who are still attending high school and have not yet graduated, documentation verifying current enrollment may be required.

Previous experience working with children in a childcare or educational setting preferred. Familiarity with basic child development principles is a plus.

Skills and Abilities

Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to interact effectively with children, parents, and colleagues.

Demonstrates reliability and responsibility in attendance and performance.

A strong awareness of child safety and the ability to handle emergencies or behavioral situations with calmness and efficiency.

Ability to handle sensitive information with discretion and maintain confidentiality.

Willingness to adapt to changing needs, including assisting in different areas or adjusting activities as necessary.

Physical Requirements

While performing the duties of this job, employees will frequently be required to sit, stand, walk, bend, kneel, stoop, climb, talk and hear, both in person and by telephone; use hands repetitively to handle, feel or operate standard office equipment; reach with hands and arms; and lift up to 20 pounds occasionally, and more than 40 pounds infrequently with assistance. Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision and the ability to adjust focus.
