Assist coaching staff in administering and organizing all aspects of a collegiate sports program. Responsibilities include recruiting student athletes, coaching specific events, and planning practices and competitions.
The University of Rio Grande is seeking motivated individuals to serve as Graduate Assistants (GA) in the Athletics, Housing, Student Success and Madog Center/Welsh Studies offices for the 2026-27 academic year.
Graduate Assistants are provided a tuition waiver and choice of: 1) room & board OR 2) a $6,000 academic year stipend.
Graduate Assistants (GAs) serve in support roles across the University while completing their graduate studies.
GAs are designed to provide valuable professional experience that enhances future career opportunities.
To remain eligible, Graduate Assistants must be enrolled in a degree-seeking graduate program, carry at least six credit hours, maintain good academic standing with a minimum 2.0 GPA, and be eligible to work in the United States.
GAs may work up to 27.5 hours per week or 900 hours per year in any capacity for the University.
*New and returning GA's must send a cover letter indicating the sport or office they wish to work for (see above) and indicate choice of room & board OR $6,000 stipend for the academic year, resume, as well as the names and contact information of at least three references, through the University's online application tracking system. Selected applicants who select room and board will be required to sign a housing contract with the Housing Office. Selected applicants who elect a stipend must complete required hiring documentation with Human Resources before beginning work.
