PURPOSE: To provide instruction and supervision for students in the Early Childhood Department. To support Early Childhood teachers in the preparation and organization of materials and resources needed to provide for student needs. To supervise early childhood students beyond the school day.
Performance
ABILITIES: Work Habits Work with all major departments and divisions to achieve strategic initiatives. Maintain professionalism in punctuality, dress, speech, and manner. Communicate and deal effectively with all members of the school community and community at large. Perform in a manner that reflects positively on the school. Perform all duties as requested by the Head of School. Maintains a pattern of prompt and regular attendance. Essential Functions Assists at assigned arrival carline each morning or after care duties, to help children going to the classrooms. Handles chores for the teacher such as copying, cutouts, etc. Collects office supplies as needed. Checks backpacks for notes, etc. Uses “I Care” rules and Conscious Discipline to develop a positive relationship with each child and promote the development of self-esteem and self-discipline. Establishes a positive relationship with each child’s family. Assists children with projects in the classroom. Leads in small group experiences with the students. Interacts with the children on the playground. Monitors children in the bathroom. Escorts children to and monitors them while in enrichment classes. Sets up supplies for snacks. Organizes students for Extended Day and brings them to the Extended Day Assistant. Supervises student discipline during dismissal. Assists in putting children in cars during dismissal. May be required to assist in other classrooms as needed. Supervise students beyond the school day. Ensure bathrooms are clean and properly stocked with towels, soap, and toilet paper. Disinfects toys, horizontal surfaces, mats for rest time, computer pad and mouse. Checks and tidies art supplies. Perform all duties as requested. Training and Experience Maintains expertise in assigned areas. Participates successfully in professional learning opportunities available to increase skill and proficiency related to assignment. Participates successfully in computer training to attain and/or maintain skills necessary to achieve proficiency of performance responsibilities. Personal Qualities Demonstrates a positive attitude toward work assignment. Serves as a role model who supports colleagues, mission, vision, and core values of the school.
