Middle School French Teacher

General Summary

• Teach French to students in USM’s Middle School.
• Support USM’s mission to cultivate learners, leaders, and citizens through its academic and co-curricular programming.
• Model a passion for French and love for learning, and help students meet their intellectual and social-emotional potential.
• Collaborate with colleagues to strengthen French curriculum, to develop the craft of teaching, and to enhance the Middle School community and USM community as a whole.
• Embody the values of USM’s Common Trust: respect, trust, honesty, fairness, and kindness.

Essential

Duties and Responsibilities

• Teach five sections of French.
• Plan and implement engaging and differentiated lessons.
• Craft formative and summative assessments to monitor student learning.
• Provide meaningful, growth-oriented feedback to students.
• Inspire an appreciation for French in students.
• Advise a group of Middle School students.
• Engage in regular professional development opportunities, in and outside of USM, to grow as a teacher.
• Collaborate with colleagues to develop and enhance the Middle School French department.
• Joyfully contribute to an inclusive school culture in which students are engaged, known, and valued.
• Attend meetings and complete other duties as assigned in order to support the functioning of the Middle School.

Education and Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in French or related area.
• Teaching experience, preferably at the Middle School level.
