LOOKING FOR TO JOIN THE GLOW TEAM GLOW is adding to its Exceptional Children’s team of 7 teachers with the addition of a full time One-On-One Teacher Assistant. This main role for the One-on-One assistant is to provide individualized support to one student with special needs, ensuring their safety, comfort, and active participation in educational activities. This role involves assisting with personal care, fostering an inclusive learning environment, and under the supervision of the classroom teacher, implementing individualized education plans (IEPs). A secondary role for this position is to assist the teacher with other students in the classroom and perform other duties as assigned.
Full-time, 10-Month (August-May) POSITION: Exceptional Children’s Teacher Assistant AVAILABLE: August 3, 2026 REPORTS TO: EC Coordinator HOURS: 7:45am-3:30pm (not to exceed 40 hours/week) COMPENSATION: $16.07 / hour
Assist teachers in devising and adapting special strategies for helping the student learn the content being taught and monitoring student performance on such content through progress monitoring of curriculum content and IEP goals Assist student with toileting needs which will include lifting and / or transferring the student to ensure proper hygiene needs are met in a respectful and dignified approach for all personal care tasks. This could also include assisting in clothes when the need arises. Assist with all physical needs in all areas including toileting, self care, academic, & recreational. Accurately document and report student progress to the educational team Constantly monitor the safety and well-being of all students and offer encouragement to increase self esteem. Working collaboratively with teacher, team members and parents Encourage positive social interactions and assist in developing social skills Supervise student(s) during transitions, recess, lunch (occasionally preparing), and other non-classroom activities. Ensure a safe environment by adhering to safety protocols and responding to emergencies appropriately Assist in the use and maintenance of assistive devices and equipment Perform various clerical duties as needed, maintain records of student progress; make copies; develop instructional materials. Maintain the same high level of ethical behavior and confidentiality of information about EC students within the classroom as is expected of all GLOW staff. Perform related duties and responsibilities as requested by the teacher, EC Coordinator or school administration.
EXPERIENCE: Demonstrated ability to teach and support in the appropriate subject area ENVIRONMENT: Demonstrated ability to build and support a warm and inclusive classroom environment, implement positive behavior practices, and build strong relationships with students and families to support student success CURRICULUM: Demonstrated ability to implement rigorous and engaging lessons aligned to the content standards outlined in the NC Standard Course of Study WHOLE GIRL: Awareness of educational issues regarding the academic and social development of a diverse population of students, including minority and socioeconomically disadvantaged adolescent girls from high needs neighborhoods/communities.

All new staff with an initial license will be assigned a Mentor as part of our Beginning Teacher Program.
