Youth Behavioral Specialist – Senior - FULL TIME – 2ND SHIFT

📍 1010 Centre Ave, Reading, PA

🕒 Full-Time / Non-Exempt

💲22.00 hourly

💵 DailyPay Available

  • 2:00pm - 10:00pm *Include weekends as scheduled, discussed during interview.

We are seeking quality applicants who hold a bachelor's degree for our Residential Enhanced Level of Care Program, an 8-bed program for male adolescents ages 12 to 18 years old.

Summary of Position

The Senior Youth Behavioral Specialist will provide supervision, guidance, boundaries, and direction to adolescents who are in need of a more structured, individualized and enhanced level of care. Demonstrate a variety of counseling, communication, and parenting skills, which support the formation of trusting, supportive relationships with the residents.

What You’ll Do

As a Senior Youth Behavioral Specialist, you will

  • Maintain safety and security of residents and facility.
  • Maintain compliance with staffing ratios at all times, including mandated overtime, moving to other units as requested, and attending/participating in all clinical/case management group is fulfilled.
  • Utilize Electronic Health Records (EHR) to document resident behaviors, visitation safety checks (in-house and community outings), and any applicable service
  • Complete daily shift notes, activity notes, and communication logs, including justification for any behavioral interventions.
  • Supervises residents while following program policies and assuring compliance with Sanctuary principles.
  • Actively (via participation or close monitoring) supervises residents during recreational activities and provides instruction when necessary.
  • Supervises residents during academic instruction, handling behavioral issues.
  • Closely supervises residents while in the community, prioritizing community safety at all times.
  • Implements behavior modification program (point system) in accordance with program policies, philosophy, and treatment plans.

  • Overnight shift duties include the following: perform 15 minute checks on all residents, paperwork (make copies), and clean and organize unit areas.
  • Ensures safe evacuation of residents during emergencies and fire drills.
  • Record reports (i.e. Incident Reports, Restrictive Procedure Reports, etc) in a professional and timely manner.
  • Plans and implements organized activities for the residents.
  • Physically restrains residents (only when necessary in order to ensure safety) following Safe Crisis Management training in accordance with program policies.
  • Oversees resident health and hygiene.
  • Completes room and personal searches in accordance with program policies, documenting all according to program policies.
  • Attends all required meetings and trainings.
  • Works on all residential units and educational placements.
  • Maintains building cleanliness as needed such as taking out unit trash and taking used towels/sheets to laundry, performing light maintenance and building improvements, primarily during overnight shifts.
  • Transports clients in company vehicles, as needed.
  • Professionally represents agency.
  • Adheres to all company policies and procedures.
  • Perform other job duties as assigned.

    Position Requirements

    • Valid Driver's License and clean driving record. (preferred)
    • Bachelor's Degree with a concentration in social work, criminal justice, psychology, or any Human Services field. (highly preferred)
    • Associate's degree with at least 1 year experience working with youth. (accepted)
    • High School Diploma with 2 year experience (in a residential setting) (accepted)
    • Must pass all pre-employment physical & drug screening (including THC) and background clearances. (Child, Criminal, FBI, and DMV)
    • Ability to demonstrate basic oral, written, and verbal communication.
    • Must attend all required trainings followed by shadowing prior to working on the unit.
    • Ability to work effectively among various levels of behaviors and maintain an atmosphere of safety, support, and guidance to ensure a positive environment.
    • Experienced working with youth adolescents in a residential treatment setting.
    • Required to work on weekends as scheduled by supervisor.
