The teacher will plan and implement the Religious Studies curriculum for five sections while utilizing IB pedagogical frameworks. Additional duties include serving as a student advisor, IB Personal Project Supervisor, and moderating student clubs.

Mercy High School is seeking candidates for a full-time Religion Teacher position beginning in August 2026. The ideal candidate will have experience teaching religion courses centered on the tenets and practices of Catholicism. Candidates should be academically strong and dedicated to educating a diverse community of young women in an environment that values intellectual curiosity, meaningful relationships, and spiritual growth. The successful candidate will recognize the unique role teachers play in the spiritual and religious development of young people, model critical inquiry and lifelong learning, and demonstrate integrity and fairness in all aspects of community life.
As a school authorized by the International Baccalaureate (IB) to offer the Middle Years Programme (MYP), Mercy's curriculum in grades 9 and 10 emphasizes concept-based instruction and structured inquiry as key pedagogical approaches. Courses at the upper levels are rigorous, engaging, and intellectually challenging. Mercy is also authorized to offer the IB Diploma Programme (DP) in grades 11 and 12. While previous experience with these programs is preferred, it is not required.
Compensation and Benefits
Annual salary ranges from $45,000 to $65,000, based on education and experience. Candidates with additional experience, qualifications, or the ability to assume additional responsibilities may be offered a salary outside of the stated range. A comprehensive benefits package includes tuition remission at Mercy High School for dependent daughters and at Loyola University Maryland for employees and their dependents, subject to eligibility requirements and years of full-time service.
Candidates must be practicing Roman Catholics with at least a bachelor's degree in theology, religious studies, or education. Experience teaching religion courses is required, while experience with IB programs is preferred.
