Job description

  • Sacred Heart School of Glyndon, located in Reisterstown, Maryland, seeks a full- time qualified and enthusiastic Middle School Language Arts (ELA) and Religion Teacher for the 2026–2027 academic school year.
  • The ideal candidate will be committed to academic excellence, faith formation, and fostering a positive learning environment for all students.
  • The Middle School Language Arts (ELA) and Religion Teacher is responsible for delivering all curriculum instruction for 6th- and 7th-grade ELA, as well as 6th- and 8th-grade Religion.
  • The ability to differentiate instruction to meet the needs of all students is essential.
  • The teacher should also be knowledgeable about integrating technology into classroom lessons.
  • Essential Functions
  • Provide a grade-appropriate instructional program for students that adheres to the school's philosophy, goals, and objectives.
  • Maintain an attractive, organized, and engaging learning environment.
  • Develop lesson plans with clear objectives aligned with the Archdiocese of Baltimore curriculum and Maryland State Standards.
  • Maintain accurate and complete records of students' progress and development.
  • Provide regular and consistent communication with parents, students, staff, and administration.
  • Maintain confidentiality regarding students, their families, and fellow employees.
  • Perform assigned duties related to the supervision of students before, during, and after school.
  • Participate in faculty meetings, school committees, and professional development opportunities.
  • Maintain high professional standards consistent with the mission of the school and the teachings of the Catholic Church.
  • Be responsible for the safety and active supervision of students at all times and for effective classroom management using PBIS (Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports) protocols.
  • Work collaboratively with other teachers, staff, and administration.
  • Attend school events, including Back-to-School Nights, Open Houses, Parent-Teacher Conference Days, and other events as requested by the administration.
  • Position Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree and current MSDE certification required, or willingness to obtain certification.
  • Must be an active, practicing Catholic who is fully able to participate in the life of the Church.
