The Afterschool Program Assistant supervises students from Pre-K through 5th grade to ensure a safe and nurturing environment. They are responsible for planning and facilitating enrichment activities and supporting daily program operations.
A high school diploma or equivalent is required, and experience working with children is preferred. Candidates must obtain FBI criminal background clearance and tuberculosis screening.
The Afterschool Program Assistant helps create a safe, engaging, and nurturing environment for students in the school’s afterschool program. This role supports daily program operations, supervises students, assists with enrichment activities, and promotes positive student engagement. The ideal candidate is dependable, flexible, creative, and enjoys working with children.
Key Responsibilities Supervise and ensure the safety of students during afterschool programming Plan, organize, and facilitate enrichment activities that support student growth and engagement Prepare materials and supplies for activities and projects Supervise students during supper and assist with cleanup Reinforce school-wide routines, expectations, and positive behavior Build positive relationships with students, families, and staff Support daily program operations and maintain a safe, organized environment Attend staff meetings, trainings, and professional development sessions Collaborate with team members to support a successful afterschool program
High school diploma or equivalent required Experience working with children in an educational or childcare setting preferred Strong communication, teamwork, and organizational skills Ability to work with students across multiple grade levels FBI criminal background clearance required Tuberculosis screening/clearance required
