About the role

The Music Teacher Assistant supports the lead teacher in daily lessons, classroom management, and student supervision. They also assist with the preparation of musical instruments and the implementation of schoolwide performances and events.

Position Summary

The Music Teacher Assistant supports the Music Teacher in creating an engaging, safe, and inclusive learning environment where students can explore and develop their musical skills. The Music TA assists with instruction, classroom management, student supervision, preparation of materials and instruments, and other activities that support the school's music program and broader school community. Key Responsibilities Assist the Music Teacher with daily lessons, activities, projects, performances, and classroom routines. Provide individual and small-group support to students during music instruction. Help prepare, organize, distribute, collect, and properly store musical instruments, equipment, and instructional materials. Support positive student behavior and maintain a safe, respectful, and engaging learning environment. Assist with student transitions to and from music classes and supervise students during assigned schoolwide duties, including arrival, lunch, recess, dismissal, or other coverage as needed. Support the preparation and implementation of concerts, performances, celebrations, and other schoolwide events. Work collaboratively with teachers, administrators, and other staff to support student learning and well-being. Maintain appropriate confidentiality regarding students, families, and colleagues. Attend required staff meetings, professional development sessions, and school activities. Demonstrate professionalism, reliability, flexibility, positive communication, and punctuality. Perform additional responsibilities as assigned based on the needs of students, the music program, or the school.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree preferred Experience working with children in a school, youth program, or similar setting preferred. Experience or demonstrated interest in music, music education, performance, or the arts preferred. Ability to work collaboratively with students and adults in a diverse school community. Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills. Commitment to supporting the well-being and success of all Stokes School students.

Requirements

A bachelor's degree is preferred for this position. Candidates should have experience working with children and a demonstrated interest in music or the arts.
