The Swim Instructor provides direct leadership, instruction, and motivation for students in swimming classes. They are responsible for preparing lesson plans and building authentic relationships with parents and students.
Candidates must be at least 16 years old with some high school education and hold certifications in CPR, AED, Basic First Aid, and Emergency Oxygen. YMCA Swim Instructor certification is required or will be provided through training.
Instructs swimming lessons and prepares lesson plans according to the YMCA. Builds effective, authentic relationships with parents and students to connect and inform parents of each other and students’ accomplishments. Conveys information on aquatics programs and schedules and refers students and parents to other programs. Maintains records and attends meetings and trainings as scheduled. Perform other duties as assigned by the Supervisor. Abilities & Skills Ability to instruct and observe participants in proper stroke techniques. Ability to lift equipment and to lift a small to average-sized child.
