Job Description

Navigator Academy of Leadership Davenport is seeking a dedicated and passionate 6th/7th Grade English Language Arts Teacher to join our growing middle school team. The ideal candidate will inspire a love of reading and writing while delivering engaging, standards-based instruction that prepares students for academic success and lifelong learning.

Responsibilities

• Plan and deliver rigorous, standards-aligned instruction in 6th and/or 7th Grade English Language Arts.
• Develop lessons that strengthen students' reading comprehension, writing, vocabulary, grammar, and critical thinking skills.
• Utilize assessment data to differentiate instruction and monitor student progress.
• Create a positive, structured classroom environment that promotes engagement, collaboration, and high expectations.
• Integrate instructional technology and diverse learning strategies to meet the needs of all learners.
• Collaborate with grade-level and content-area teams to plan instruction, analyze data, and improve student achievement.
• Communicate regularly with students and families regarding academic progress and classroom expectations.
• Participate in professional learning, school events, and school-wide initiatives while supporting the mission, vision, and Leader in Me culture of Navigator Academy.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university.
• Valid Florida Educator Certificate (or eligibility to obtain one) in English (6–12), Middle Grades Integrated Curriculum (5–9), or another appropriate certification.
• Knowledge of Florida's B.E.S.T. Standards and evidence-based literacy instructional practices.
• Strong classroom management, communication, and organizational skills.
• Commitment to fostering a positive, student-centered learning environment and continuous professional growth.
