Washington Athletics has an outstanding opportunity for an Assistant Athletic Trainer to join their team. Key Responsibilities This position will administer comprehensive athletic training services to Intercollegiate Athletics teams, as assigned, at the University of Washington. Provide prevention, evaluation, treatment, rehabilitation, counseling and education related to athletic injuries and illnesses as needed. (60%) Ensure accurate and thorough record keeping and documentation. Assist with other athletic training and administrative duties as assigned. Adhere to and carry out established policies and procedures. (20%) Assist with the coordination and scheduling of medical coverage for home and away practice and competition, training, and strength and conditioning sessions. Coordinate and schedule pre-participation exams and medical referrals to determine student-athlete readiness to participate. (10%) Work collaboratively with the team physicians and other allied health care professionals. Work with the strength and conditioning staff to ensure safety in the design and implementation of individualized programming. Evaluate and recommend new techniques and equipment that would benefit and improve the athletic training program. (10%) Required Qualifications To be considered for this opportunity your application must demonstrate you meet both the minimum qualifications and additional qualifications listed below. Equivalent education and/or experience may substitute for minimum qualifications except when there are legal requirements, such as a license, certification, and/or registration.
Master’s degree in athletic training or other sports medicine area of study required. Must possess NATABOC certification along with current CPR and First Aid/AED certifications. Must be licensed or eligible for licensure as an Athletic Trainer in the state of Washington. Additional Qualifications Successful candidates should be proficient in evidence-based medicine, medical documentation, emergency care, sport specific rehabilitation and injury prevention programs; have a demonstrated ability to relate to both men's and women's athletic injuries and health related issues; have a demonstrated ability to interact effectively with other intercollegiate athletic staff, coaches, and the local medical community; must have excellent organizational and time management skills and the ability to work independently.
Candidates with 4 years or greater post-professional experience are preferred.
