Role Overview: Recess Aides primarily provide general supervision of elementary-aged children during outdoor (or indoor) recess, helping to ensure that recess is a safe, joyful experience for students. Candidates for this position should enjoy engaging with children and have some experience supporting children in school, after/before school, summer camp, and/or daycare settings. Recess Monitor must be all weekdays; hours vary a bit by school, but typically include mid-morning to afternoon hours (10:00am-2:00pm or 11:00am-3:00pm). Key Responsibilities: Provide quality supervision of children, including but not limited to: Providing children with clear directions and expectations, upholding and reinforcing schoolwide behavior systems Positively redirecting students who are struggling to meet behavior expectations to get them back on track quickly Creating opportunities for collaborative play (organizing or facilitating games, suggesting activities, etc.) while maintaining supervision of whole group Ensuring children are able to enjoy a recess free from bullying Communicating with school-based staff regarding any student concerns or recess needs Bringing out play equipment and ensure the play yard is tidied up after recess Other relevant duties as assigned by the School Principal

Compensation Recess Aides are compensated at $15.00 - $18.00 per hour, commensurate upon experience, typically work (20) hours/week.
