The Physical Education Teacher is responsible for planning, organizing, and implementing instructional programs that promote active learning and physical fitness. They will evaluate student performance, manage behavior, and maintain accurate records of student progress.
Candidates must have a bachelor's degree or higher in a related field and possess strong communication and organizational skills. The role requires the ability to work cooperatively with students, parents, and staff while promoting teamwork and motivation.
Description MUST DO Plan, organize, and implement age-appropriate instructional programs with excellence in an environment that guides and encourages students to develop and fulfill their academic potential in a Christ-centered environment.
Plan, prepare, and deliver age-appropriate curricula that facilitate active learning, promoting teamwork, good sportsmanship, and positive attitudes toward physical fitness. Instruct students on fundamental movement patterns, health education, and individual or team sports, communicating clear objectives. Maximize active participation during class time, instructing and monitoring students in learning team/individual sports or the use of equipment. Evaluate student performance and motor skills and adjust teaching strategies as needed. Conduct continual safety checks on athletic facilities, fields, and equipment. Manage student behavior by establishing and enforcing rules and procedures. Maintain discipline following the rules and disciplinary systems of the school and provide appropriate feedback. Maintain accurate and complete records of students' attendance, progress, and development, and prepare required reports on students and activities. Update all necessary records accurately and completely as required by laws and school regulations. Participate in department, school, district, and parent meetings. Communicate necessary information regularly to students, colleagues, and parents regarding student progress and student needs. Other duties as assigned.
Bachelor’s degree or higher from an accredited institution or related teaching field. Ability to use sound judgment. Build harmonious rapport and work cooperatively with and respond rapidly and appropriately to parents, students, and staff. Proficient in promoting, listening, creative vision casting, and excellent verbal and written communication. Excellent organizational skills. Ability to foster teamwork and motivate others. Self-motivated in all areas pertinent to the position. Participate in extracurricular activities as directed. Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and Google Docs. Required to sit, stand, walk, talk, hear, operate a computer and other office equipment, reach with hands and arms, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 10 lbs.
30 AM – 3:30 PM, Monday – Friday 10-month schedule, per school calendar Required to attend meetings outside the normal workday as needed
