General Description

The Primary School Technology & Coding Instructor provides engaging, hands-on technology instruction to students in grades K–5. This position helps students develop foundational skills in digital literacy, keyboarding, coding, responsible technology use, creativity, collaboration, and problem-solving through age-appropriate lessons and project-based learning.

The Technology & Coding Instructor works collaboratively with classroom teachers and school leadership to support technology integration across all grade levels while promoting a safe, innovative, and student-centered learning environment.

Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent required. Associate degree or college coursework in technology, education, computer science, or a related field preferred. Experience working with elementary-aged students preferred. Experience using educational technology and coding platforms such as Scratch, Blockly, or similar programs preferred. Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills. Ability to effectively supervise groups of students. Ability to learn new technology platforms and instructional tools. Passion for technology, innovation, and helping students succeed. Key Responsibilities: Provide engaging technology and coding instruction for students in grades K–5. Introduce students to keyboarding, digital literacy, coding concepts, online safety, and responsible technology use. Facilitate hands-on, project-based learning activities that encourage creativity, collaboration, and critical thinking. Support classroom teachers with technology integration and digital learning activities. Prepare instructional materials and technology resources for student use. Monitor student engagement and provide appropriate feedback and encouragement. Maintain technology equipment, software, and classroom resources in an organized and functional manner. Assist with troubleshooting basic technology issues within the classroom environment. Help organize school technology events, STEM activities, coding clubs, or student showcases as assigned. Participate in staff meetings, professional development, and other school initiatives. Perform other duties as assigned by the Building Administrator. School Activities Participate in school events, STEM nights, student showcases, and family engagement activities. Support extracurricular technology and coding opportunities as assigned. Collaborate with staff to promote technology integration and student engagement. Participate in school improvement initiatives and professional learning opportunities. Essential Skills and Abilities Ability to build positive relationships with students and staff. Ability to supervise students while maintaining a safe and orderly learning environment. Strong verbal and written communication skills. Excellent organizational and time-management skills. Basic knowledge of computers, educational technology, and digital learning platforms. Ability to adapt instruction and activities to meet varying student needs. Demonstrate creativity, flexibility, and a willingness to learn new technology. Must demonstrate foundational professionalism, including consistent attendance, punctuality, adherence to school policies and procedures, and strong employability skills.
