  • WORK: Under the direct supervision of the Coordinator of Child and Family Services, this position designs and leads staff in the provision of therapeutic services to children under the age of seven, through the Circle of Friends program. This occurs through daily classroom activities which focus on improvement of social, emotional, cognitive and physical growth of children who have delays in these areas, primarily due to a parent’s substance use disorder. This position involves activities that require ability to lift 50 lbs., reaching, climbing, standing for long periods of time and grasping. Vocal communication is required for expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word. Hearing is required to perceive information at normal spoken levels. Visual acuity is required for preparing or analyzing written or computer data, determining the accuracy and thoroughness of work, and observing surroundings and activities. The worker is not subjected to adverse environmental conditions. JOB DUTIES Plans, supervises & teaches a developmentally appropriate program in accordance with the policies & philosophy of the Circle of Friends Center, including lesson plans Maintains records and documentation in compliance with Medicaid, DHHS, CARF and DSS standards Provides a consistent, predictable, and enjoyable classroom/treatment routine Assesses and gears the program to meet the needs of the individual child with concern for their interests, needs, talents, individual style and pace of learning Participates in case consultations, treatment team and staff meetings Assists clinical coordinator and program coordinator with developmental screenings Responsible for the Screenings Outcome Report Serves as the DSS center designee in the absence of the program director Participates in recommended or required training programs, conferences, courses & other aspects of professional growth Makes home visits to foster interaction between family members and child Participates and facilitates parent-child bonding activities as assigned Engages in communication with child’s parents to explore child’s development Performs other similar and related duties as required to ensure the quality of services and over-all program success Position duties, on occasional, may require extended evening and/or weekend hours Actively supports ERI values of acknowledgment, commitment, openness, celebration, and humility. Requires a Bachelor's degree in early childhood education or a related social services field and 1-2 years of equivalent child care experience. Candidates must possess a valid driver's license and insurance, along with knowledge of substance use disorders and their impact on families.
