Job Description and Responsibilities TheraPeds Partners is seeking a Special Education Teacher for a full-time, school-based opportunity in Lee, Maine during the 2026–2027 school year.
This on-site position offers the opportunity to support students across Kindergarten through 12th grade while working as part of a collaborative team committed to student growth and success.
Position Snapshot Full-time schedule (37.5 hours per week) 2026–2027 school year (August through May/June) On-site assignment in Lee, ME Serving students in grades K–12 Competitive hourly compensation Guaranteed paid hours, including planning, documentation, and administrative responsibilities Collaborative support from both the school district and TheraPeds Partners Primary Responsibilities As a Special Education Teacher, you'll provide individualized instruction and educational support while partnering with school teams to help students reach their academic and developmental goals.
Your responsibilities will include: Designing, implementing, and monitoring Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) Providing specialized instruction that meets each student's learning strengths and educational needs Conducting educational assessments and participating in evaluation and eligibility processes Managing assigned caseloads and maintaining compliance with special education documentation requirements Tracking student progress and adjusting instructional strategies to maximize outcomes Working closely with families, teachers, therapists, and administrators to coordinate services and promote student success Maintaining a structured, inclusive classroom environment that supports learning, independence, and positive behavior Coaching and collaborating with classroom staff to implement accommodations, modifications, and effective instructional practices Compensation $50–$65+ per hour, based on experience Estimated weekly earnings of $1,875–$2,250+ Teaching Certification, Bachelors or Masters Degree or higher in Special Education State License as as SPED teacher 1+ years of experience in a school setting preferred Experience working with children Organizational and time management skills Proficient in use of technology Fingerprint background clearance Ability to collaborate with school staff and parents with a demonstrated ability to exercise a high level of tact and discretion in both internal and external communications Physical Requirements Working and playing with students requires that employees must be able to perform the necessary physical movement functions, as needed, such as lifting, sitting, walking, standing, crawling, and engaging with students in all physical locations and activities, while adhering to the duties outlined by the district.
