Position Summary

The Part-Time Assistant Varsity Girls Basketball Coach supports the Head Coach in developing Middle School and High School student-athletes through Christ-centered coaching, skill development, and competitive excellence. This role assists with practices, games, player development, and the day-to-day operations of the girls basketball program while helping cultivate a culture that reflects the mission of Covenant Christian Academy Athletics. The ideal candidate is a relational, dependable, and growth-minded coach who models Christlike character, teaches the game with passion and purpose, and is committed to helping student-athletes grow in faith, discipline, and excellence on and off the court.

  • Assist the Head Coach in leading the Middle School and High School Girls Basketball program.
  • Teach and develop basketball fundamentals, individual skills, and team concepts.
  • Model and cultivate Christlike character, discipline, humility, and competitive excellence.
  • Build meaningful relationships that encourage spiritual, athletic, and personal growth.
  • Support player development through practices, games, offseason workouts, and summer programs.
  • Help create a positive, unified, and competitive team culture aligned with the Cougar Way.
  • Program operations
  • Assist with practice planning, game preparation, scouting, and player evaluation.
  • Help coordinate equipment, uniforms, travel, and team communication.
  • Maintain compliance with school and TAPPS policies and expectations.
  • Support administrative responsibilities assigned by the Head Coach and Athletic Director.
  • Represent Covenant Christian Academy with professionalism and integrity at all times.

Qualifications

  • A mature and growing faith in Jesus Christ consistent with Covenant Christian Academy's Statement of Faith.
  • A passion for mentoring and developing student-athletes through Christian education.
  • Strong knowledge of the game of basketball and the ability to teach its fundamentals.
  • Strong communication, organization, and relationship-building skills.
  • Dependable, professional, and committed to teamwork.
  • Previous coaching or competitive basketball experience preferred.
  • Desired outcomes
  • Student-athletes grow in their faith, character, and love for the game.
  • Players demonstrate continued improvement in skill, basketball IQ, confidence, and competitive performance.
  • The girls basketball program reflects excellence, humility, teamwork, and Christ-centered leadership.
  • Practices and games are organized, purposeful, and development-focused.
  • Families, opponents, and officials experience professionalism that honors Christ and represents Covenant Christian Academy well.

Requirements

Candidates should have a mature faith consistent with the school's mission and a passion for mentoring student-athletes. Previous coaching or competitive basketball experience is preferred, along with strong organizational and communication skills.
