About the role

The assistant coach provides technical coaching and conditioning for student-athletes, specifically focusing on field events. Additionally, the role supports fundraising efforts and the organization of home meets and alumni events.

Under general direction of the head coach, the assistant track and field coach’s primary responsibilities will consist of the technical coaching of student-athletes during practices and conditioning. The assistant track and field coach will also assist with fundraising efforts and event planning and organization.

Essential Functions

Assists with conditioning and practices, with specific emphasis on the training of individuals competing in the field events (jumps, throws, etc.)

Assists with fundraising

Assists with event planning and organization, including but not limited to home meets, alumni events, and conference meet

Qualifications

  • Bachelors' Degree in related area.
  • 1-3 years related experience

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Knowledge of a specific sport's concepts/strategies and NCAA rules and regulations.
  • Knowledge of physical conditioning techniques and weight training.
  • Knowledge of basic statistics.
  • Verbal and written communication skills.
  • Interpersonal/human relations skills.
  • Organizational/planning skills.
  • Leadership and motivational skills.
  • Ability to serve as a positive role model
