Position Summary

Southern Avenue Charter School is seeking a dedicated, student-centered, and highly effective 4th Grade Math Teacher to inspire students to develop strong mathematical skills and confidence in problem-solving. The ideal candidate will deliver engaging, standards-based instruction aligned with the Tennessee Academic Standards while fostering a positive, inclusive classroom environment that promotes academic excellence and character development. Essential

Duties and Responsibilities

Plan and deliver engaging daily mathematics instruction aligned with Tennessee Academic Standards. Differentiate instruction to meet the academic needs of diverse learners, including students with IEPs, 504 Plans, English Learners, and gifted students. Utilize data from assessments to guide instruction, monitor student progress, and implement interventions. Develop and administer formative and summative assessments to evaluate student mastery. Foster mathematical reasoning, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills through hands-on and collaborative learning experiences. Maintain a safe, organized, and positive classroom environment that supports student achievement and social-emotional growth. Integrate educational technology into instruction to enhance student engagement and learning outcomes. Communicate regularly with parents and guardians regarding student progress, academic concerns, and classroom activities. Collaborate with grade-level teams, instructional coaches, interventionists, and administrators to improve instructional practices and student achievement. Participate in professional development, faculty meetings, PLCs, and school-wide events. Maintain accurate attendance, grades, lesson plans, and other required records in accordance with school policies. Uphold all school policies, procedures, and expectations while modeling professionalism and ethical conduct. QualificationsQualifications Bachelor's degree in Elementary Education or a closely related field. Valid Tennessee Teaching License with appropriate Elementary Education endorsement. Demonstrated knowledge of elementary mathematics instruction and best teaching practices. Strong classroom management and organizational skills. Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills. Ability to analyze student performance data and adjust instruction accordingly. Commitment to high academic expectations and student success.

Preferred Qualifications

Previous experience teaching upper elementary mathematics. Experience in a charter school environment. Knowledge of MTSS/RTI instructional practices. Experience using educational technology platforms and student data management systems. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Strong understanding of elementary mathematics concepts and instructional strategies. Ability to create engaging, standards-based lesson plans. Effective classroom management techniques. Strong collaboration and teamwork skills. Ability to build positive relationships with students, families, and colleagues. Commitment to continuous professional growth. Physical Requirements Ability to stand and walk for extended periods. Ability to lift up to 25 pounds. Ability to supervise students in classrooms, hallways, cafeteria, playground, and during school activities. Work Environment Work is performed primarily in a classroom setting with occasional outdoor supervision responsibilities. The position requires regular interaction with students, staff, parents, and community stakeholders.

Requirements

Candidates must hold a Bachelor's degree in Elementary Education or a related field and possess a valid Tennessee Teaching License with an Elementary Education endorsement. Strong classroom management skills and the ability to analyze student performance data are essential for this role.
