About the role

Provide therapeutic counseling and crisis intervention to children, adolescents, and families in school and community settings. Collaborate with educators and community partners to implement treatment plans and promote mental health awareness.

Guided by the teachings of Jesus Christ, Saint Louis Counseling supports healing and improved mental health for families and children of all backgrounds through professional counseling and psychiatric services.

Saint Louis Counseling operates eight offices throughout metropolitan St.

Louis.

In addition, its School Partnership Program (SPP) therapists provide onsite services to students at more than 100 schools as well as children who are homeless living at area shelters.

Louis Counseling, seeks an exceptional School Counselor to join our dedicated team.

The School Counselor provides counseling and therapeutic services to children, adolescents, and families in school-based and community-based settings, helping students overcome challenges, build resilience, and achieve academic and personal success.

This role collaborates closely with educators, families, and community partners, promotes awareness of available counseling services, and supports administrative initiatives as needed.

The ideal candidate is a compassionate, skilled mental health professional who demonstrates clinical excellence, strong relationship-building abilities, and a commitment to serving others in alignment with the mission of Catholic Charities.

This is a full-time position.

Starting compensation is $46,000 annually and is commensurate with qualifications, experience, and licensure.Job Responsibilities

Attendance at scheduled staff meetings and clinical supervision meetings Maintenance of clinical caseload, provision of community and school-based educational presentations, and group work.

Service delivery measured qualitatively by Supervisor as good or excellent Demonstrates willingness to develop professionally.

Timely completion of client records.

Demonstrates willingness to assist with ministry programs, projects and committees.

Provides direct counseling and casework services, within ministry policies, programs, and procedures, to a wide range of clients with a multiplicity of problems of increasingly complex nature.

Direct service or case related activity will usually occur off-site at schools or work with other community agencies.

Assesses appropriate treatment modality and provides individual, family, group, treatment and/or crisis intervention.

Assess clients through the use of intake interviews, case history, and treatment planning.

Collaborate with area schools, social service agencies, physicians, and insurance provided as necessary.

Provides services with a limited amount of supervision and must demonstrate evidence of growing creativity and resourcefulness in planning within service line programs.

Formulate a diagnosis and implement an appropriate treatment plan.

Provides advocacy for clients as needed.

Provide school-based presentations and prevention programs as needed.

Engage in regular professional supervision with designated supervisors.

Develop new treatment groups to meet specific client needs.

Participate in marketing efforts designed to raise the level of awareness of Catholic Charities.

Make collateral contact for referrals to help clients obtain needed services.

Participate in training and meetings.

Job Requirements

Master’s degree in social work or counseling from an accredited school.

Working toward licensure or license earned.

Experience and strict adherence to policies of non-discrimination.

Various positions will require physical examination, Tuberculosis screening and Hepatitis A.

All offers are contingent upon successful completion of required screening.

Requirements

Requires a Master's degree in social work or counseling and progress toward or attainment of professional licensure. Candidates must pass comprehensive pre-employment screenings, including background checks and health screenings.
