The Senior AI Training Specialist designs and delivers learning experiences to help employees adopt AI tools safely and effectively. This role involves creating eLearning content, maintaining the internal AI website, and facilitating instructor-led training sessions across the organization.

EO/AA The Senior AI Training Specialist designs, builds, and delivers the learning experiences that help University of Utah Health employees adopt artificial intelligence tools safely and confidently.

This role blends instructional design, hands-on content creation, and live facilitation.

The specialist develops self-serve eLearning, maintains content for the team's internal AI website, and leads instructor-led sessions across clinical, research, and administrative audiences.

Because the AI Team is newly formed and this program is still taking shape, this role suits someone who is energized by ambiguity and wants to help define how AI learning works across the organization.

This position has no responsibility for providing care to patients.

Responsibilities

Essential Functions CONTENT CREATION & ELEARNING Designs and builds eLearning modules, self-serve guides, quick-reference materials, and multimedia learning assets that teach practical, responsible use of approved AI tools. Creates and maintains learning content for the team's internal AI website, keeping material current as tools and guidance evolve. Develops lesson plans, exercises, job aids, reference documents, and evaluation tools aligned to defined learning objectives. LIVE TRAINING & FACILITATION Delivers instructor-led training across classroom, virtual, one-to-one, and small-group settings, tailoring approach to different roles and skill levels. Builds engagement, practice, and application into every session so learning transfers to the job — not just information delivery. PROGRAM SUPPORT & COLLABORATION Partners with team members and stakeholders across clinical, research, IT, and administrative areas to identify learning needs and deliver fitting solutions. Monitors and reports on training effectiveness and iterates on materials based on feedback and outcomes. Stays current on a fast-moving AI landscape and translates new capabilities into accessible learning for non-technical audiences. Knowledge / Skills / Abilities Demonstrated instructional design and adult-learning skills, with the ability to make complex topics accessible to mixed-skill audiences. Strong facilitation and presentation skills across in-person and virtual formats. Ability to build engaging digital and self-serve learning content, including multimedia and web-based materials. Comfort with ambiguity and a demonstrated ability to shape a role and program that are still being defined. Self-directed learner who can quickly build proficiency in new tools and technologies — hands-on AI experience is welcomed but deep expertise is not required at hire. Strong written and verbal communication; organized, able to manage multiple projects and priorities. Coachable, reflective, and able to give and receive feedback constructively.

Qualifications

Required Bachelor's degree in Education, Communication, Organizational Development, Instructional Design, Business, or a related area or equivalency. Five years of applicable experience Qualifications (Preferred) Preferred Experience in a health care organization. Experience designing and maintaining content in SharePoint (site/page design, document libraries, navigation). Hands-on experience with generative AI tools (e.g., Microsoft Copilot, Claude) in a workplace setting. Experience creating multimedia or video learning content. Experience with Web Design. Master's degree. Working Conditions and Physical Demands Employee must be able to meet the following requirements with or without an accommodation. This is a sedentary position in an office setting that may exert up to 10 pounds and may lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects. This position involves sitting most of the time and is not exposed to adverse environmental conditions. Requirements

Candidates must possess a bachelor's degree in a relevant field and at least five years of applicable experience. Strong instructional design, facilitation, and communication skills are required to translate complex AI concepts for non-technical audiences.
