About the role

The Career Coach develops and implements comprehensive career services for students and alumni through individual coaching sessions and collaborative programming. They provide personalized career advice and guidance while contributing to the overall effectiveness of the University Career Services department.

Job Summary Reporting to the Director of University Career Services, the Career Coach is responsible for developing and implementing comprehensive career services for East Tennessee State University (ETSU) students and alumni. The Career Coach may serve as a generalist, providing career-related support and resources across the university, or may be assigned to work with a specific college or academic program. The Career Coach offers individual career coaching sessions by appointment, during which they provide personalized advice, guidance, and the necessary tools to help students and alumni identify and achieve their career goals. As assigned, the Career Coach collaborates directly with various student affairs units to ensure the seamless delivery of career services.

Additionally, the Career Coach contributes to the overall success and effectiveness of the University Career Services department by performing any other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the Director

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Knowledge of all phases of the career development process, especially as it relates to higher education.

Knowledge of best practices in career development in higher education.

Ability to communicate effectively with individuals and groups.

Ability to manage, organize, and prioritize multiple tasks.

  • Required Qualifications
  • Master’s degree in a related field.
  • OR
  • Bachelor’s Degree and 2 years' experience in education, counseling, human resources, business development, community relations or workforce services, or a related field.

Preferred Qualifications

• Previous experience in cooperative education, career services, or other student service areas at the college/university level.

Requirements
