About the role

The teacher will plan and deliver engaging English Language Arts instruction for students in grades 6-8 while maintaining an organized and safe learning environment. They are also responsible for tracking student progress, communicating with families, and participating in school committees and events.

St.

John Catholic School in Westminster, Maryland, is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic full-time Middle School English Language Arts (ELA) Teacher.

The successful candidate will be responsible for planning and delivering engaging English Language Arts instruction for students in grades 6-8.

The ability to differentiate instruction to meet the needs of all students is essential.

The teacher should also be knowledgeable about integrating technology into classroom lessons.

Essential Functions

Provide grade appropriate instructional program for students that adheres to the school's philosophy, goals, and objectives.

Maintains an attractive, organized, and engaging learning environment.

Develop lesson plans with clear objectives in line with the Archdiocese of Baltimore and State of MD Standards.

Maintains accurate and complete records of students' progress and development.

Provides regular and consistent communication with parents, students, staff, and administration.

Maintain confidentiality regarding students, their families, and other employees outside the school.

Perform additional duties when needed for the supervision of students before, during, or after school.

Participates in faculty meeting, school committees, and in-service learning opportunities.

Maintain high professional standards consistent with the mission of the school and the teaching of the Catholic Church.

Responsible for the safety and active supervision of students at all times, and for classroom management using PBIS (positive behavior intervention and support) protocols.

Works collaboratively with other teachers, staff, and administration.

Attend school events including Back to School Nights, Open Houses, Parent/Teacher conference days, and other events as requested by the administration.

Position Qualifications

Bachelor's degree and current MSDE certification or willing to obtain.

Successful experience in student teaching or classroom teaching.

Basic understanding and acceptance of Catholic school philosophy, goals, and objectives.

Must be proficient in using a variety of technology during daily lessons as well as to enrich and differentiate instruction.

Requirements

Candidates must hold a bachelor's degree and possess or be willing to obtain a current MSDE teaching certification. Successful experience in student teaching or classroom instruction is required, along with proficiency in educational technology.
