ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Meet the social, physical, emotional, and educational needs of children ages 6 weeks- 5 years old by providing, implementing and participating in weekly lesson plans. Maintain safe, welcoming, and risk free classrooms and playground areas where children feel safe and secure and parents feel welcomed. Flexible and responsible to children’s needs. Track children participating in the POS food program, input daily calculations monthly with menus of food served, and turn in required documentation. Accountable for maintaining daily attendance records, injury/accident reports, children’s portfolios, and daily logs. Creates class newsletters monthly with helpful center events, learning in the classroom, reviews child development articles/information. Support the YMCA mission, participates in YMCA special events Attends staff meetings and trainings as schedules, completes yearly Licensing and Credentialing required training hours Flexibility to work where needed, to be a team player, and show initiative to do more than expected Be a role model for children and staff members, use gentle tones Assist with set up and clean up of all meal services and daily activities QualificationsQUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS: At least 19 years of age Approval by Office of Child Care as an approved Preschool or Infant/Toddler Teacher for the age group you would be working with: High school diploma with 90 hour Preschool Certification or Infant/Toddler Certification and/or AA Degree in Early Childhood Education (Child Development & Activities I for Preschool or Infants/Toddlers Development and Care) One year experience working with children in a licensed child care center/ home or school. Continuing education training hours as required by Office of Child Care and Credentialing (12 hours per year for Office of Child Care) (Employee can choose to apply for assistance from State of Maryland for Credentialing for 13-24 hours for qualifying Credential Levels)
