  • SUMMARY: Conducts swim lessons using the National YMCA Aquatic programs. This position will perform tasks assigned accordance with the values, mission, and policies of the YMCA.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Instructs assigned lessons within National YMCA guidelines. Demonstrates the appropriate swimming skills and explains the swimming skills clearly to the class participants. Prepares and utilizes lesson plans as outlined. Maintains knowledge of current best practices in swim instruction. Responds to patron concerns in a timely, appropriate manner. Reports all incidents and concerns to the Pool Manager and the Y Aquatics Director or Assistant Director. Attends staff meetings and trainings as deemed necessary by the Aquatics Director. Follows all policies and procedures listed in the Employee Handbook and Aquatics Procedural Handbook. QualificationsQUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS: Certifications: CPR/AED/First Aid for adults, children, and infants. May be acquired after hire. Ability to comprehend simple instructions, written correspondence; present information in an oral format; read and interpret documents such as policies and procedures; and speak effectively in front of people. At least 16 years of age. Must be able to perform swim skills equivalent to a YMCA stage 4 swimmer or higher.

Requirements

Must be at least 16 years old and capable of performing swim skills at a YMCA stage 4 level or higher. CPR, AED, and First Aid certifications are required, though they may be obtained after hire.
