About the role

Provide interpreting and transliterating services to support the educational and accessibility needs of Deaf and Hard of Hearing students across campus. Collaborate effectively within a team setting while maintaining professional standards and ethical codes.

Job Description

The primary responsibility is to provide interpreting/transliterating in a variety of situations related to the educational/accessibility needs of the Deaf/Hard of Hearing students campus-wide.

Minimum Qualifications

Associate's degree. Experience in interpreting. Proficient in American Sign Language (ASL) and/or other communication modes used by Deaf individuals. Knowledge of RID/NAD Code of Ethics and Deaf Culture (Registry of Interpreters for the Deaf/National Association of the Deaf). Ability to work independently as well as in a team setting.

Preferred Qualifications

RID Certification. Bachelor’s Degree. Experience interpreting in a college setting. Knowledge of Math, English and a wide range of college subjects. Skills Assessment: Interpreters are evaluated based on their educational background and previous interpreting experience. A screening simulation to evaluate receptive and expressive skills and ability to render the message accurately is included in this evaluation process.
