About the role

The Special Education Teacher will provide tailored instruction and support to students with diverse learning needs while assisting with IEP development and compliance. They will also provide coaching, mentoring, and professional development to other special education staff to improve student outcomes.

We are seeking a compassionate and skilled Special Education Teacher to join a dedicated educational team in Carlsbad, NM. This is an excellent opportunity to expand your teaching experience while making a lasting impact on students with diverse learning needs. In this role, you will provide tailored instruction and support to students with physical, emotional, cognitive, and learning challenges. Responsibilities

Reviewing and providing feedback on IEPs, goals, accommodations, modifications, and progress monitoring practices. Supporting special education teachers with instructional planning and specially designed instruction. Providing coaching and technical assistance regarding IDEA requirements and IEP implementation. Assisting with transition planning and compliance-related documentation. Supporting new and developing special education teachers through mentoring and consultation. Delivering virtual professional development and training. Collaborating with district coordinators and administrators to identify and address areas of need. Assisting in the development of systems and practices that improve implementation fidelity and student outcomes. They must have a special education teaching license.

Requirements

  • New Mexico Public Education Department (PED) License
  • Valid state teaching credential in Special Education
  • Current BLS/CPR certification
  • Minimum of 6 months of relevant experience within the past 5 years
  • Strong knowledge of IDEA, IEP development, and implementation.
  • Experience supporting teachers and special education programs across multiple campuses.
  • Strong communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills.
  • Experience providing coaching, consultation, and professional development.
  • Know and understand how to facilitate MDRs
