About the role

The Sign Language Interpreter will facilitate communication between students, teachers, and staff within classroom and school-related settings. They are responsible for supporting student access to educational content while maintaining ethical standards and accurate documentation.

We are seeking a skilled and dependable Sign Language Interpreter to join a supportive school district in Lacey, Washington. This role involves working closely with students who are deaf or hard of hearing, helping facilitate effective communication in classroom and school-related settings. You will play an important role in supporting student participation, academic success, and social development throughout the school day. Job Responsibilities

  • Provide sign language interpretation for students in classroom instruction, meetings, and school activities
  • Facilitate communication between students, teachers, staff, and peers

  • Maintain professionalism, confidentiality, and adherence to ethical interpreting standards
  • Collaborate with educators and support staff to ensure student success
  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation as required by the school district

Requirements

  • Active certification or credentials required for Sign Language Interpreters in Washington
  • Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) and interpretation skills
  • Previous school-based or pediatric experience preferred
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work effectively within a collaborative educational team
